Not long ago, I wrote about setting a positive tone in your home. In an effort to expand upon this, I have purchased some new resources that are truly aiding in my efforts of impacting my morning in a positive way, which most definitely impacts the rest of my day!
Bible journaling is a new concept for me. I discovered it via Pinterest, where else?! I have an entire board dedicated to the links I found inspiring. You’re welcome to check that board out, and I hope you are inspired too!
Here are the items that I purchased to begin Bible journaling:
Journaling Bible
Pigma Micron Markers
Gel Highlighters
Jesus Calling Devotional
I start my morning quiet time off by turning on some praise music. Then I pull out the Jesus Calling devotional. What I like most about this devotional is that each entry is short, but packs a punch. I pray as I am reading the day’s devotion for the Lord to show me what He’d like me to learn from both it and the given verses. I then look up the verses in my Bible. This is where I take my time.
I read not only the given verse, but usually the entire chapter that each verse is contained within. From there, I take notes in my journal, and then will add some to my journaling Bible. I am not the most artistic person, so my pages don’t look as beautiful as some that I have seen. However, I am determined to not let that stop me and to journal and design away in spite of my perceived limitations.
As I was writing in my Bible at church this past Sunday (a different Bible, one that I have had for years and years), it occurred to me that this would be a nice keepsake for my children one day. I well remember the Bibles that belonged to my Pap, my Gram, and my Aunt Di. Oh, how I would love to have each of them. My memories are filled with Pap lying in bed at night and reading his Bible for an hour before turning off the light for sleep. My Gram and Aunt Di filled their Bibles with birth announcement cards, funeral cards, and clippings from the paper. They didn’t write in their Bibles, but their hands gently added information to them. So, I would like to create keepsakes for my children. I have four children, so this will mean starting over 4 times. But, I think it will be a wonderful keepsake to them to see what stood out to me as I read and prayed.
Have you ever Bible journaled? Do you have a specific devotional that you use? I’d love for you to share with me as I learn more about this!

It’s a great devotional, Erica! 🙂
I love your thoughts on starting over so you can hand your bibles down to each child. Thanks for a great post!
What kind words! Thank you!! 🙂
Biggest distraction to quiet time is probably myself. I find it hard to sit still and be quiet. I am working on improving this and finding the time in each day to devote to meditation, praying, and just being me. 🙂
Thank you for the great post and giveaway.
