My sweet teen, Natalie, is enjoying her new job. She’s 16 and so very responsible. She has big dreams and aspirations and isn’t afraid to work hard to make them happen. While her job is not a glamorous one, she is ready to go when it’s time and works hard while she’s there. It was so neat to watch her get her first paycheck!
I remember when I started working. I babysat and was a busgirl, working every day of the week. I also worked very late at night/early morning. Back then, cell phones did not exist (and we never dreamed of them!) I can’t imagine the worry my folks must have had waiting for me to arrive home each day. Maybe I’m just spoiled to have a cell phone now that I expect contact from my children. 😉
Since Natalie is away from home so much, we felt it was time to get her a cell phone of her own. It made perfect sense for us to buy her phone where we do most of our shopping, Walmart. I was pleasantly surprised to learn about their Walmart Family Mobile plans. I love the no contract aspect of this service. While I fully expect Natalie to be employed from now on, who truly knows what the future holds. I would hate to be locked into a contract and not need it a few months from now. With the Walmart Family Mobile plan, we can turn off the service anytime we need to do so.
Another concern for us is the cell phone reception where we live. We live in southern, middle Tennessee, an area with hills and valleys (or hills and hollers as the locals refer to them.) Cell phone reception can be not so good in some areas. We were pleasantly surprised to see the coverage map for our area is 4G LTE! This makes my Mama heart relax, knowing that Natalie will be able to get in touch with us anytime she needs to.
The phone that we chose for Natalie is the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime for $79.92 (this phone is on rollback from $99.92.) This phone has all of the features she desired, at a price that was just right. Her Daddy and brother both have Samsung Galaxy phones, so she felt quite as ease learning about its use. Since we are new to the WalMart Family Mobile service, we also bought the $25 starter kit. So, for just over $100, we had a nice phone for Natalie.
Our Walmart employee was a great help in choosing our phone. She then set the phone up for us in no time. What great service is that?! We didn’t have to take the phone home and guess if we were doing all of the steps correctly. We walked out of the store with a working phone. Loved that!
How fun that included with this $49.88 plus plan is one free movie rental ($7 value!) from Vudu per month! We can watch our Friday night movie on our smart tv for free, once per month! This movie could also be viewed on your tablet or device such as a Roku, if you don’t have a smart tv.
Natalie has worked every day since getting her new phone. I feel better knowing that she has it. She feels better having it. It’s also rather entertaining for her when she takes her much-appreciated breaks. She can pull out her phone and access any of several apps. She can also call her Mama. 😉
Of course, Natalie will use her phone to do more than call her Mama. She has already downloaded several apps and enjoys using them. Instagram, Facebook, and more are all on her phone. It’s fun to see her sending SnapChat photos to her younger sister who is at home with me.
Remember, the Walmart Family Mobile PLUS plan means unlimited talk, text, & data, which includes up to 10GB of 4G LTE plus a free movie on VUDU every month, per line for only $49.88! There are several phone options from which to choose. You will find that perfectly suits your teen’s needs (and yours!) If you’re looking for an affordable, dependable cell phone service without the hassle and expense of a contract, I heartily encourage you to check out the Walmart Family Mobile Service!
What do you do to keep in touch with your teen as they venture into the working world? I’d love your feedback!
