Special thanks to Olympic Paints and Lowe’s Home Improvements for partnering with me to bring you this giveaway! #BringOnTheColor
Ever since we completed an office makeover in our home, I’ve been inspired to complete another room makeover!
I have my eye on the kitchen as the next room we tackle. While most of the rooms in our home could stand a makeover, I spend the most time in the kitchen, so that’s the one I naturally gravitate towards.
If you’re ready to take on a home improvement project, I’ve got a giveaway for you at the end of this post! ** UPDATE- GIVEAWAY CLOSED!**
I’ve been adding ideas to a Pinterest board dedicated to kitchen makeover ideas. Come check out the fun items I’ve been pinning!
One big makeover that I’m strongly considering is painting our cabinets. Now, this is a big change for me! It must be the home improvement shows’ influence on me! I’ve always been a “wood should be wood colored” person. However, I’m leaning towards painting those wood cabinets and have been playing with the Olympic® Paint Visualizer tool!
This is a super fun tool!
Here’s how simple it is to use:
First, head on over to the Olympic Paint Visualizer. Click on Paint Your Photo and upload the photo of your room to be painted.
This is our kitchen that is need of updating.
Using the visualizer is quite simple! For this one above, I marked the surface of the cabinets to be painted, as well as marked the edge of the area to be “painted”.
Once you have outlined the area to be “painted,” the area will be grayed. I didn’t get all of the area in this gray zone, but it’s enough to give me a good idea!
The next step is to choose the paint colors you’d like to try out. They are a few ways to choose these colors. Here, I’ve chosen the room by room option. You can also use the “dropper” to pull a color from a portion of your photo (this would be helpful if you have an accent piece and want to see what a wall or other would look like painted that color.) These colors are placed at the bottom of the screen, ready for use in the next section.
Here are the simple directions for use. Very user-friendly!
Adding another color choice is a breeze!
Here is the final product of what our cabinets would look like painted in my chosen color. I looked at several of the colors. It was fun to “see” our kitchen cabinets a plethora of new colors!
On my list for this makeover, I’d like to replace the countertops, add a tile back splash, add under-cabinet lighting, paint the cabinets, replace the door hardware, and more. How fun would this project be to complete?!
Shopping for new colors for your home is such fun! The Olympic paint display at Lowe’s makes it super simple to find your favorites! The brochures are arranged to allow shopping in 3 ways: by color (through the chips), by lifestyle (through the lifestyle brochures), and by project (room and project brochures.) No matter what color you are looking for, the Olympic Paints and Stains Color Center makes it easy to find it.
Once you’ve narrowed your choices a bit, you can pick up affordable paint samples. They are so helpful and allow you to paint with confidence. You can see some great project inspiration on the Olympic Pinterest page!
How about you? Are you taking on a make over soon? Or are you like me and in the dreaming stage and planning this for 2017? Go ahead and visit the Olympic Paints and Stains Color Center exclusively at Lowe’s or use the Olympic® Paint Visualizer tool. It’s fun to get a peek at what a room in your home will look like with a brand new color.

I like the combination of Happy Trails and Ruby Red.. I think. I’m terrible at choosing colors.
Laurie, I’ve been thinking of updating my kitchen too-I would like to paint the cabinets but they are a bit water damaged around the sink. Any ideas to fix those doors? Love this post!
This is a timely article for me, as I’m in the process of painting the entire inside of our house! I’m going out to buy my grey today and I had already chosen Gibraltar Grey! I also like Roller Coaster, it it actually may work better with our decorations. So glad you posted this!
I really like the Aqua paint colors. Swan Lake was really pretty. I would like to do our bathroom in this color. With some dark beige bath towels.
We are always looking ahead to the next project! We used to have a color similar to Cobalt Glaze in our bedroom & it was so energizing & yet calming at the same time. I’d love to have it in my home again… maybe a bathroom this time, wuth white accents? Great article! Thanks for the demo with the visualization tool!
I’m in the mood for red!! I am planning to move soon and can’t wait to bring some red into my kitchen!!! I like the primitive look and I think the Red Gumball or the Calypso Red or maybe even the burnt red would help me with the look I’m after. Who knows?!?!
So many great colors! I’d love to use Polaris in my main bathroom or in my bedroom.
My favorite is the florentine lapis color because it is very similar to the color we just painted our kitchen.
Dreamcatcher and French Market inspire me the most. I love the shades of green and it would be such a nice color in my house.
