Family Game Night {and Pizza Bread recipe!}
Growing up, we played a lot of games- card games, board games, etc. Maybe it was the months of winter weather that kept us indoors, maybe it was just the atmosphere, but we all enjoyed playing games.
My hubby, on the other hand, did not grow up enjoying playing games. He’s just not a game person.
Our children are a mixture, two like games, two do not. The two that do not like games, do enjoy playing on the XBox. Funny how that works. Maybe it’s the technology part of it, I don’t know. All I know is that I am enjoying game time with my family!

One thing that playing games just calls for is fun food! One of our favorite foods is pizza, but my oven has been broken for nearly 2 months, so that was out. Instead, we came up with Pizza Bread, which can be baked in our large convection toaster oven.

Roll out the dough

Cover with pepperoni

Add sauce (but not too heavy on the sauce!) and cheese

Roll up from the long end as tightly as possible

Seal the edge

Fold the two ends on top to fit into the loaf pan.

Place the loaf, seam side down, into the loaf pan

Allow to rise

Remove from the pan after baking to a golden brown

Slice and enjoy!

Ingredients
Pizza Bread Dough
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1-1/2 cups water
- 3 Tablespoons butter
- 1-1/2 Tablespoons yeast (or 2 packets)
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 Tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 5-6 cups all-purpose flour
Pizza Sauce
- 3 cups tomato sauce
- 1-1/2 Tablespoons Italian seasoning
- 1 Tablespoon oregano
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- Pinch red pepper flakes
- Salt & Pepper to taste
Toppings-
- Sandwich pepperoni works better than smaller slices, I use 1/2 pound sliced thinly
- 1-2 cups mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Combine milk, water, and butter in a small saucepan. Heat over low heat until butter melts and temperature reaches 110*.
- Pour liquid mixture into bowl of stand mixer. Sprinkle yeast and sugar over liquid. Mix in 1 cup flour, combine, then allow to sit and form a sponge, for about 10 minutes.
- Add in salt, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, and 4 cups flour. Mix until dough clings to hook, adding additional flour (up to another cup) as needed. Knead for 5 minutes.
- Coat large bowl with olive oil, place dough into a bowl, turning to coat.
- Cover, allow to rise in a warm place, until doubled, about an hour.
- Punch down dough, divide in half.
- Roll dough out.
- Cover with pepperoni and mozzarella cheese. Add 2 Tablespoons or so of sauce (take care to not use too much sauce).
- Roll tightly, pinching the ends.
- Fold the ends over to fit into loaf pan.
- Place in greased loaf pans, folded ends down.
- Allow to rise for 30-45 minutes.
- Pre-heat oven to 400*
- Bake 30-40 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from pans, slice and serve with pizza sauce.
- To make pizza sauce, simply combine all ingredients, and heat gently for 30 minutes or so. Serve warm sauce with Pizza Bread
