Connecting generations used to be a simple part of life. Until I was 14, I lived close by my grandparents. I spent a LOT of time with them. When I was 14, we moved from upstate New York to SW Florida. The days of being close by were over. In order to remain close, true effort had to be made. Thankfully, my Pap and Gram saw the importance of this. They regularly visited us in Florida. They made phone calls at least weekly. And my Gram sent me mail quite often.
My children’s generation is a bit different. It seems like so many families are spread out all over the country. My family is no different. My husband and I decided to move to a more rural area in 2004. We left SW Florida and moved to Tennessee, leaving family behind. At the time, my folks were full-time RV’ers and visited us every 6 months or so.
My folks have now settled once again in their home state of New York. They still make a trip to visit us about twice per year. And weekly phone calls are the norm for us. Our two oldest children well remember living in Florida with their Pappy and Grammy nearby. But, my two youngest children didn’t have that luxury. Natalie was 4 and Mary was 1 when we moved. While phone calls and visits help, we are always looking for ways to keep in touch.
While shopping at WalMart the other day, we found these super cute new stuffed animals, CloudPets™. Intrigued, we picked up the super cute puppy CloudPet™. We grabbed three AA batteries (required for use) and took him home with us. I wasn’t sure what we’d do with him, but he was just too adorable to leave at the store.
Inspiration struck when we were about to leave for our trip to visit family in New York. Grandparents Day is coming soon (September 13th this year!) and I’m always looking for a fun gift to give. We tucked the puppy and batteries into the suitcase and went on our trip.
How fun it was for Mary to gift her Pappy and Grammy with the CloudPet™ puppy! “Derek” now lives with them. We can send messages to them via “Derek” and know that they’ll be surprised every time the heart blinks. The heart blinks whenever a new message is sent.
This is indeed a new, one-of-a-kind product that keeps loved ones in touch when far away. I can see these CloudPets™ being useful for so many people! Children with far away family members. Maybe a deployed parent? A new college student? Maybe a long-distance relationship? A traveling spouse? How fun will it be to see that blinking heart, knowing that there is a new message waiting for you!
You can add multiple people through the parental controls and free app that is downloaded for your CloudPets™ to work properly. The great thing is that YOU control who can send messages to your CloudPet™.
CloudPets™ are available in select Walmart stores, but will be available nationwide soon. Currently, you can choose from Kitty, Bear, or Puppy CloudPets™.
Want to see how it works? Visit the CloudPets™ tour and watch the informative videos!
Give me some feedback! I would love to hear how you would use your CloudPets™!

I love that these toys can keep your kids feeling like they are connected to family that may be far away. So sweet
They are so fun. 🙂
What a fun idea. They look so cute too.
They are super cute! 🙂
These are just the cutest! I need to check our local Walmart and see if they carry them. I’d love to get one for my daughter.
They are! They’re very well made too, not just cute. Enjoy!!
I’ve been reading FB comments about Cloud Pets but didn’t have a clue what they could do. Now I’m thinking I need to send one to our great grandson whom we rarely get to visit. He will love it.
Oh, how fun would that be! You can send messages and know that he will get excited seeing that little heart light up! 🙂
So sweet! My son would love one of these.
They are fun!!
These are so fun! When my little guy gets older, I’ll have to use one him 🙂
How old is your little guy?
And, yes, very fun! 🙂
What a cute idea! I think we would use these when my hubby is away on business, or for the grandparents!
There are so many fun uses for these cute pets! 🙂
This product is genius! We live far away from our grandparents too, and this would be the perfect thing to use to keep in touch!
They are pretty spectacular….and fun! 🙂
My kids want these so bad. We are a military family and they would come in so handy.
They would most definitely be great for a military family!
Maybe a Christmas gift ideas?
What a great idea to give the pet TO the grandparents rather than keep it at home where the older kids might not use it as much. [client]
What a cute toy! And you’re right–it’s a great way to stay connected if you travel a lot or live far away.
I love the far-away family connection. What a fun surprise to come home to a message!
Ohmy gosh! I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS! Such a sweet connection.
Thank you for your sweet comment! 🙂
Great way to stay connected. I love this for family that may live a bit farther away…
It is a super fun product, that’s for sure! 🙂
This would be adorable for a christmas gift!
My thoughts exactly! 🙂
Ohh how fun, we have the bear and we use it for my family in Germany to communicate with my daughter; so much fun and we love it. Such a cuddly bear
Oh how neat! Love this idea so, so much!
What an awesome idea! I have an anxious kid who does not do well with one parent away, and both my husband and I travel quite a lot. This would be great for us.
I hope your kid enjoys this CloudPet. They are FUN!
I love this idea! We are a military family and while my husband is currently not in a deployable unit it doesn’t mean he won’t be in the future. This would have made the last deployment he was on so much easier! I’ll be looking into these. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you to you and your husband for his service!
And, yes, I think these would make the perfect companion for a child of a deployed parent. 🙂
