Looking back on some of my fondest Christmas memories, I have much to be thankful for. A loving family, gifts, abundance of food, and so much more. There is not one Christmas that I can recall that I didn’t have each of those wonderful blessings. When we get together with all of our extended family, we start talking about these Christmases past.
One of those memories that someone will inevitably bring up is Christmas Eve, 1974. I was 5 years old. Santa was a real person to me. 😉
We had enjoyed our family gathering that evening and were getting into bed when my brother came running through the house saying that he saw Rudolph in the sky! Oh my! We all gathered by his window to see the flashing red of Rudolph’s nose. What excitement! We went to bed knowing that Santa would be at our home soon!
The only problem was that we didn’t have a chimney and I had no idea how he would make his grand entrance. If we didn’t have a chimney, how would he get into our home to leave his gifts? My folks assured me that he would get the gifts under our tree somehow.
Christmas morning came, and indeed, there were presents under the tree from Santa. He came through again.
When we got back to school after Christmas break, I told a friend about our exciting night of seeing Rudolph’s red nose in the sky. She told me that she had been really upset during Christmas. She and her family had traveled out of state to visit family. She was quite worried that Santa would not be able to find her, since she wouldn’t be at home. She spent the entire visit worried and upset. Turns out, he did find her, and all was well.
That story came to mind when I was contacted by Hallmark about a new product they have this year called Find Me, Santa. This is an ingenious magic little snowflake! Once you push and hold the button for a few seconds, the light will shine for 4 hours, so that Santa can find your child! The snowflake changes color. It’s not super bright to be annoying, but bright enough. You could put this on your front door, on your child’s bedroom door, or even by their bed. The light would not be too bright for them to sleep.
I think this is an ingenious way to avoid what my friend experienced. She was only 5, and this was a real fear for her. Think of how differently her Christmas Eve could have been, had she had her own special way of letting Santa know where to find her!Â
This snowflake is quite reasonably priced at $9.95. We have purchased MANY of our Christmas ornaments from Hallmark over the years, and can speak well of the quality of their products. If you have a small child concerned about Santa finding them, be sure to visit your local Hallmark store to pick up this Find Me, Santa snowflake and ease their concerns.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a Good Night!
