I was blessed with three boys and recently while sorting through their clothes though it would be interesting to share what I have learned about boys and clothes.
My boys have always shared a bedroom and kept a minimalist closet. Although I love that they shared a room, I always wanted them to have the ultimate boy closets. I wanted each boy to have an individual locker type closet just right for their clothes.
A few years ago I achieved my dream, a good friend, Dr. Mike, made me custom closets for the boys.
The basic boy wardrobe:
1 blue jeans1 black jeans1 dress pants2 dress shirts2 long sleeves t-shirts2 sweat shirts1 suit with shirt and tie4 short sleeves t-shirts2 track pants2 causal pants3 pairs of socks1 pair of black dress socks7 briefs2 pj sets1 winter coat1 light jacket
The basic boy wardrobe works great until they reached the teen years. This is when I realized that personality influenced what they would and would not wear.
I allow my boys to experiment with clothing using three rules:
1. All clothing must be modest
2. All clothing must be good condition
3. All clothing must be appropriate for the occasion
If an article does not meet these rules, we will not purchase it or I get to throw it out.
The non-negotiable in the boys’ closets are:
1 suit with matching shirt and tie1 pair of black dress socks1 pair dress shoes3 pairs of socks7 briefs2 pj sets1 winter coat1 light jacket
